Pizza Dough Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 cups flour (5 cups white, 1 cup whole wheat)

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 2 cups warm water (115°F / 46°C)

  • 2 tbsp yeast

  • Olive oil (for coating and drizzling)

Directions

1. Prepare the Yeast

Warm the water to 115°F (46°C) — warm enough to activate the yeast but not hot enough to kill it.
Tip: Test the temperature on your wrist; it should feel warm, not hot.

Dissolve the yeast completely in the warm water and set aside.

2. Mix the Dough

In a stand mixer (or by hand), combine the flour and salt.
Once mixed, slowly add the yeast mixture and continue mixing until a smooth dough forms.

3. First Rise

Coat a large bowl with olive oil and transfer the dough to the bowl.
Drizzle a small amount of olive oil over the top of the dough.

Cover the bowl with a towel or blanket and let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place.

4. Second & Third Rise

After the first rise:

  • Knead the dough

  • Drizzle olive oil on top

  • Cover and let rise for another hour

Repeat this step one more time for a total of three rises.

5. Form the Dough

After the third rise, shape the dough into your desired pizza crust or bread forms.

Let the shaped dough rise until doubled in size before baking.

6. Bake

Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
Bake until the crust is golden brown and fully cooked.
